Water Valley High School art students studied Mississippi native Water Anderson. Their mission was to create a watercolor animal in the style of Walter Anderson with a border to make the colors and shapes in their paintings stand out. Selected works were painted by: (top row) Baylie Terry, Natalie Phillips, Amari Gooch, Trynaidee' Walton, (bottom row) Maggie Hill, Parker Turnage, and Lani Moon. Well done, artists!

The Health Science 1/2 classes toured the NWCC and CNA and Phlebotomy program today at Everest. The instructor, Jeanie Finzer and her students, took WVHS students into their lab and had 7 stations set up with skills learned in the program such as drawing blood, measuring urine, cleaning dentures, feeding a patient, taking blood pressure, performing Range of Motion exercises, and helping patient into and off a bed pan. They discussed program admission and expectations, clinical, patient safety, certification earned, state testing, licensure, etc. The students in the program did an awesome job teaching our students the skills and watching them practice in small groups. We had a great time and appreciate the opportunity to see what is learned in this college program. One of our WVHS graduates was teaching one of the stations (Aria Smith-so proud of you).

DES students have been using lots of fun games to explore rhythm and movement in Music class this week. Kindergartners enjoyed copying movements with scarves. 1st-6th grades used glow sticks to tap out rhythms and played “Pass the Pumpkin” to practice keeping a steady beat.
