During Monday night's school board meeting, Ginger Sain and Bonnie Keene were named WVSD Teachers of the Year.
Davidson Elementary School Principal James Watson (right) and Superintendent Jerry Williams (left) recognized Ginger Sain as the DES Teacher of the Year during Monday night’s school board meeting. Sain has worked the last four years at DES, serving in multiple capacities.“Mrs. Sain is always so kind, positive and eager to help her kids grow andlearn daily,” Watson reported. “She is also their greatest advocate and goes to bat for them daily.”
Water Valley High School (WVHS) Assistant Principal Melinda Allen (right) and Superintendent Jerry Williams honored Dr. Bonnie Keene as the WVHS Teacher of the year Monday night. Keene shared that her favorite thing about being is a teacher is “helping students realize their potential and overcome their struggles.”
“Dr. Keene is a master educator who possesses all the tools necessary to make an immediate and lasting impact on the lives of our students,” reported WVHS Principal Drew Pitcock.
Congratulations to these educators and their deducation to the students of the Water Valley School District.

DES Promotion Ceremonies

The WVHS Archery team completed their regular season this week placing 3rd in the 2A division, which includes 3A and 4A schools. The team was 5 points behind the 2nd place finisher.
Six of the team members will compete this Saturday in Jackson as they were selected as All Stars. Kellen Hart, Arthur Fielder, Bella Humphreys, Lillien White, Maris Lindsey and Matthew Surrette will be participating in the regular Genesis match. Matthew Surrette is also an All Star in the Extreme category.
The team is coached by Steve Lindsey and Jackie Egdorf.


DES PTO fundraiser

With a team score of 326, the WVHS boys golf team advances to the state tournament. The team members are Allen Paysinger, Brady Hill, Walker Tedford, Andrew Paysinger, John McMinn and Jake McMinn.

Mrs. Jacks' students reviewed human impacts on Earth today. Students completed a watershed activity in which they visually observed the physical characteristics of a watershed, and investigated the impacts of human land use decisions.




The WVHS Archery team will compete in the state competition today starting at 11:00 A.M. The team finished 5 points behind first place at the North Half tournament.

Water Valley High School senior Elijah White signed a letter of intent to run track at Hinds Community College in the fall. He is also a member of the Water Valley High Football, Basketball and Baseball teams. His track coach is Chris Yancy. He is shown with his parents Keith and Krystal White.

Congratulations to the Water Valley Girls Golf team of Chloe Clement, Carlee Jackson, Ashlyn Darby, Summer Webb and Bethany Pryor, for placing second at the Region 3, District 1 golf tournament in Grenada. The girls qualified for the Class II State tournament for the 6th straight year, along with New Albany and Pontotoc. The Lady Devils are coached by Michael Howland.
