Mrs. Dalton's 8th Grade Science Class performed a "Bird Beak Buffet" lab today to simulate h Charles Darwin's Natural Selection Theory. This theory may explain how finches evolved and responded to their particular environment to generate different types of beaks on the Galapagos Islands. Data was recorded and will be analyzed to determine how some finch beaks are better suited for particular islands compared to other finch beaks.





Mrs Bain’s Challenge class students visited Jamie and Linda Scott’s Dancing Bear Sanctuary and Sculpture Park on North Main. They decorated the sidewalks welcoming visitors to the Art Crawl which will be in Water Valley on Saturday night.
Thank you to the Scott’s for allowing our students to visit and the WVPD for escorting the students on their walk to and from Davidson!

Ms. Carwile’s AP Computer Science Principles students created and learned how networks work in a quick “Strings” demonstration.

This week Mrs. Jacks’ class has been learning about atoms and molecules. Today, students created edible atoms to represent where to find protons, neutrons, and electrons in an atom.





In their art class this week, DES 3rd-6th grade students learned about positive and negative space, contrast and symmetry. They used these skills to create Japanese Notan Paper Art by cutting and pasting black paper. The kids did a fantastic job and made some really interesting pieces.




Mrs. Bates' Mississippi Studies students presented the three major tribes of MIssissippi.

Jai Williams, photographer and documentarian grad student from the University of MS spoke with Mrs. Koshenina’s English III students about audio recording, photography, and documentary making. Koshenina’s students are studying story telling through film this semester.



8th grade math students hard at work creating posters to present to classmates explaining the steps of solving multi-step questions.

Ms. Avent’s kindergarten class explored outside using their five senses and then drew what they could see, smell, taste, hear and touch while outside.
