Mrs. Jacks’s students learned about the properties of matter by observing reactions of different liquids on unknown substances to determine which substance was sugar.





Water Valley Junior HIgh students enjoyed the afternoon with "Trunk or Treating" as area businesses and organizations provided their treats. Thank you to everyone who participated!









Science night at DES was a huge success! Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator Mrs. Keel states, "We would like to thank everyone that donated candy and time to help make our Science Night such a big success!! Thank you to all of the families and community members that came out to visit with us!! We can’t wait to see you in December for our Polar Express!!!











The PTO treated the faculty and staff of DES with a popcorn bar this past Friday.

Ms. Carwile's first period class had the highest attendance last week. They get the trophy for the week, a donut party, and Ms. Carwile gets to wear jeans for the week.


Ms. Avent's class enjoyed creating their class pumpkin for the upcoming "Book Character Pumpkin Contest."

Water Valley High School students who were on the principal's honor roll for the first night weeks and their parents were honored with a breakfast and ceremony this morning. The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event. Coaches Richard Russo and Chris Yancy gave an encouraging yet challenging address to the audience. Congratulations to each of the students! We are very proud of your success.

DES puts a CAP on drugs!




In 8th grade science students delved in Charles Darwin's research on finches, exploring concepts such as natural selection and adaptation. During the hands-on experiment ,"Battle of the Beaks" our young scientists discovered how variations in beak shape and size can impact an organism's ability to survive and thrive in its environment.

The WVHS Law and Public Safety classes visited the Lafayette county fire department for some hands-on learning. Assistant Chief of Training Jamie Phillips taught the students many things including rappelling from a tower, search and rescue techniques in a simulated burning structure fire, and fire hose operations
