Mental Health Awareness Day
Mrs. Briscoe and Ms. Kelley provided 4th grade students with Sonic slushes for their hard work on the recent math portion of the state test. They also celebrated the completion of testing for their grade.
We continue to celebrate our Teachers of the Year, Bonnie Keene and Ginger Sain with gifts from community supporters and administration.

Blue Devils advance to Round 2!
Water Valley School District celebrates National Library Week with our librarians Mrs. Clement, DES and Mrs. Rotkiewicz, WVHS.
Mrs. Clement received a plant from DES PTO and Mrs. Rotkiewicz received an Amazon gift card along with note of appreciation from her co-workers.
Nine students from Water Valley High School Competed at the State Science Fair held on March 31, 2023 at the University of Mississippi. Of those students, six placed among the top student scientists in our state. Water Valley winners included: Caspian Coughlin, 3rd Place in Physics and Astronomy; Annaliese Coughlin, 5th Place in Earth and Environmental Sciences; Kalaila Folson, 3rd Place in Engineering Mechanics; Nethanel Dunn, 2nd Place in Engineering Mechanics; Will Embry, 5th Place in Biochemistry (not pictured, Levi Bryant, 3rd place, Physics and Astronomy).
Ms. Avent's kindergarten students enjoyed a fun day outside after their MKAS testing last week.

Congratulations to the Water Valley Girls Golf Team for placing 10th in the Class 3A/4A State Tournament in Grenada, MS. The team shot a two day total of 409, led by the strong play of Seniors Chloe Clement (203) and Carlee Jackson(221), along with Juniors Ashlyn Darby (206) and Summer Webb (240).

The 2023 Water Valley High School Beauty Review was held on Thursday night with senior Aubrey "Bri" Parrish crowned as Water Valley High School Most Beautiful.
Evey Brooks was crowned 9th-11th grade Most Beautiful and Payton Darby was crowned 7th-8th grade Most Beautiful.

During Monday night's school board meeting, Ginger Sain and Bonnie Keene were named WVSD Teachers of the Year.
Davidson Elementary School Principal James Watson (right) and Superintendent Jerry Williams (left) recognized Ginger Sain as the DES Teacher of the Year during Monday night’s school board meeting. Sain has worked the last four years at DES, serving in multiple capacities.“Mrs. Sain is always so kind, positive and eager to help her kids grow andlearn daily,” Watson reported. “She is also their greatest advocate and goes to bat for them daily.”
Water Valley High School (WVHS) Assistant Principal Melinda Allen (right) and Superintendent Jerry Williams honored Dr. Bonnie Keene as the WVHS Teacher of the year Monday night. Keene shared that her favorite thing about being is a teacher is “helping students realize their potential and overcome their struggles.”
“Dr. Keene is a master educator who possesses all the tools necessary to make an immediate and lasting impact on the lives of our students,” reported WVHS Principal Drew Pitcock.
Congratulations to these educators and their deducation to the students of the Water Valley School District.
